Sparkasse closes three branches in Lünen – what changes for customers

Sparkasse an der Lippe is implementing its branch concept in Lünen: In the coming weeks, three locations will be closed to customer traffic. Consultation and service are to be increasingly bundled in the modernized main branch on Graf-Adolf-Straße. The affected branches are Münsterstraße, Löwen-Köster-Straße, and Alstedder Straße.

For customers, this mainly means: personal appointments will be organized more centrally in the future, and the usual routes for cash supply will change depending on the district. Sparkasse is relying on a combination of the main branch, other consultation formats, as well as self-service and digital offerings.

These three locations are closing – an overview of the dates

Münsterstraße

• Last day open for customer traffic: Wednesday, June 10, 2026
• The foyer with self-service machines will remain usable for a short time and will close from Tuesday, June 16

Löwen-Köster-Straße

• Last day open for customer traffic: Thursday, July 2
• The foyer with the self-service systems will already close from Friday, July 3

Alstedder Straße

• Last day open for customer traffic: Wednesday, July 29
• The foyer with self-service machines will close from Wednesday, August 5

Cash supply: What alternatives Sparkasse mentions

With the loss of classic counter locations, the question of ATMs and deposit options becomes central. For two of the three affected locations, Sparkasse refers to solutions in cooperation with Volksbank Selm-Bork-Altlünen.

• Löwen-Köster-Straße: For the Löwen-Köster-Straße location, from July 1, free cash supply will be possible via existing ATMs in the parking lot of the beverage market on Cappenberger Straße.
• Alstedder Straße: For the Alstedder Straße location, customers can use the ATM installed together with Volksbank Selm-Bork-Altlünen in the REWE parking lot on Alstedder Straße.

Consultation in the future centrally at the main branch on Graf-Adolf-Straße

Sparkasse wants to serve the affected customers in the future at the modernized main branch on Graf-Adolf-Straße. According to the institution, customers were personally informed about this; they should also continue to meet their familiar advisors there.

In terms of content, the change follows the logic that many banks are currently pursuing: standard services are moving to self-service or digital channels, while personal consultation is concentrated at fewer, but better equipped locations. Sparkasse justifies its approach with changing customer needs – more online banking, less classic walk-in customers – and is aligning its structure accordingly.

Modernized main branch: Reopening with action day announced

The main branch in Lünen, which has been extensively modernized over the past two years, plays a key role.

Sparkasse announces that the reopening on Tuesday, June 16, will be accompanied by a family and action day. On this day, it will be open from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m., with a lunch break from 12:30 p.m. to 2 p.m.

In summary, the three closures mean: fewer classic branches in the districts, but more centralized consultation in the city center and a stronger focus on self-service, telephone, and digital services – with replacement solutions for cash supply where ATM locations are eliminated or relocated.
